About the Role
With extensive experience, our team in Sheffield are dedicated to enhancing homes with exceptional improvement services. We are looking for an apprentice to join us. We will provide the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in a variety of trade disciplines to a high standard and within a supportive environment.
Undertake maintenance tasks, and minor planned and responsive repair works, using a broad range of fundamental trade skills including carpentry, joinery, plumbing, plastering, brick and block work, external works and associated finishing trades including tiling, painting, and decorating.
- Use a wide variety of hand and power tools, materials, components, fixtures and fittings.
- Ensure work that is carried out is compliant with health and safety requirements, and meets building safety regulations and legislation.
- Understand the key principles of buildings and their construction, the range of building services that support a buildings operation, including electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment, the techniques, and processes.
- Interacts with other maintenance staff, specialist trades people, landlords and property owners, and the staff that work within or the residents that occupy buildings.
- Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Communicate effectively.

Qualification: L2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship Standard:
Assessment methods:
Practical assessment with questions:
You will be observed by an independent assessor completing a set of tasks. It will last 10 hours. They will ask you at least 10 questions.
Interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence:
You will have an interview with an independent assessor. It will last at least 60 minutes. They will ask you at least 10 questions. The questions will be about certain aspects of your occupation. You need to compile a portfolio of evidence before the EPA gateway. You can use it to help answer the questions.
Multiple-choice test:
You will complete a multiple-choice test. It will be closed book, meaning you will not have access to any books or reference materials.
Venue: The Sheffield College, City Campus, Granville Road, Sheffield, S2 2RL.
Attendance: Day release.
