About the Role
A practical industrial focused role with this multi skill builder operating within the S10 area of Sheffield on different client projects and environments. You will be ambitious to learn and eager to develop into both a skilled site carpenter with opportunities to learn a wide range of building skills within a busy and demanding schedule.
You will cover a wide range of creative joinery aspects from new kitchens, bathrooms to bedrooms, interiors and extensions.
- Carry out a range of job tasks including measuring, marking out, fitting, cutting, splicing, finishing, positioning and securing.
- Install door and window frames, door and hatch linings, floor joist coverings, straight partitions and straight staircases.
- Install doors, ironmongery, service encasements, wall and floor units and fitments, cladding and staircase components.
- Erect inclined roofs with gables, joists, roof coverings and roof components.
- Repair or replace frames, mouldings, doors, windows, door and window ironmongery, roofing components, guttering and downpipes and window components.
- Use, maintain and store hand tools, power tools and associated equipment.
- General Work – learning multiple skills across different disciplines, site housekeeping and maintenance.
- Adopt the role of onsite Health & Safety Ambassador.
Candidates will ensure they have sustainable transport to reach our pick up location in the Sheffield post code region of S10.
About the Training
Apprentice Standard - Carpentry and Joinery – Site Pathway Level 2 qualification
- Includes End Point Assessment.
- College attendance in 6 x 2 week blocks in each year (2 years) at Sheffield College City Campus PLUS continuous professional development with employer.

Hawkins Builders is a construction company that prides itself in providing excellent service. It was established by Thomas Hawkins, a qualified primary school teacher and DIY enthusiast. Having struggled with unsatisfactory builders when completing work on his own home, he decided to start building his own extensions. He left teaching and pursued a career in building with the aim of providing others with the same level of quality and excellence that he put into his own home.
